Occupational Health and Safety Policy

Matcon Excavation and Shoring Limited recognizes that it is the fundamental right of all employees to be provided with a safe and healthy working environment. Matcon is committed to achieving this fundamental right. It is our belief that we can achieve profitable production and quality workmanship without injury to workers or damage to property and equipment. Injury and illness from exposure to the work environment is needless, costly, and preventable. Matcon is committed to prevention of loss due to accidents involving employees, equipment and property.

In order to fulfill Matcon's commitment, it is necessary that all employees advocate this goal and actively work towards its fulfillment. Management will provide the necessary tools, supervision and training, in accordance with industry standards and in compliance with all authorities having jurisdiction, to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.

CSABC Safety Star Certification

Since 2005, Matcon Excavation & Shoring Ltd. has been proud to hold the CSABC Safety Star certification. A new safety training program from the Construction Safety Association of BC, the STAR COR program was developed in cooperation with the WCB. It provides expert, consistent safety training for BC's construction workers, supervisors and owners.

STAR stands for Safety Training, Accountability and Recognition; COR stands for Certificate of Recognition.
